North Carolina police are searching for a driver who ran over six migrant workers with a car Sunday at a bus stop outside a Walmart in what they say "appears to be an intentional assault with a vehicle."
The driver, who was described as an older white man, hit the workers standing on a sidewalk in Lincolnton with a black SUV around 1:15 p.m., the Lincolnton Police Department said in a news release.
"The motives of the suspect are still under investigation," police said. It "appears to be an intentional assault with a vehicle."
The workers were taken to a hospital for various injuries. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, police said. All victims were treated and released Sunday.
