Kathie Lee Gifford is detailing a painful injury.
The Emmy winner has been hospitalized after fracturing her pelvis in two places while recovering from hip replacement surgery, she told People.
As the former daytime TV host explained, though the injury occurred after she tripped and fell at home, she had also moved “300 books” by herself during an event in Nashville the day before.
"I weakened my body," Kathie, 70, explained to the publication. "It's my own fault."
She added, "It didn't take much, because I was weak in that spot. And the next thing you know, I am back in the hospital with a fractured pelvis, the front and the back. That's more painful than anything I went through with the hip. The pelvis is unbelievably painful. But anyway, here I am."
The author went on to call the incident a "humbling experience,” noting that she remained in the hospital for a week because she didn’t “trust” herself.
"You think you know your body,” she continued, “and the next thing you know, your body changes when you get older. And as much as I don't wanna think about it, I am."
And though Kathie noted that it’s currently “summer for everybody” except for her, she’s vowed to put her health first—and have a little fun while doing so.
“I'm going to get out to my little fan one of these days and stick my feet in my salt pool,” Kathie—who is mom to kids Cody and Cassidy with late husband Frank Gifford—shared. “The Lord is telling me it's time to slow down. I've been running my whole life. The Lord is telling me, 'You've planted a gazillion roses. Try smelling them.'”
E! News has reached out to Kathie’s reps for additional comment but has not yet heard back.
